Master of Your Fate

“My uncle was the one who introduced me to Prince’s music in 1978 at the age of 9. I was blown away at what I saw on the back of the ‘For You’ album: Written, arranged, composed, produced, performed by PRINCE. Then to see him follow that on other albums was more than unbelievable. Master of your fate…Captain of your soul…to thine own self be true. I have been on this journey all of my PURPLE LIFE. There is nobody like Prince. His songs make you want to dance, to make love, to make peace, and to cry.

Paisley Park has forever been & will forever be in my heart. I love Minnesota, and have visited Minneapolis and Chanhassen many times over the years. April 23, 2016 I flew to Minneapolis on a one-way ticket. I embraced the city, and the city embraced me. I was at Paisley Park when Prince’s family gave out the memorial boxes. I went to see a screening of Purple Rain being shown in the auditorium of Prince’s junior high school. Wherever Prince was being celebrated and remembered, I was there that week.

The pounding of my heart beat so strong on October 6 when I entered the doors of Paisley Park. I was able to walk the halls and breathe the rare air…and it is indescribable.

I wrote a proclamation that was approved by the Mayor of Houston to make it officially Prince Rogers Nelson Day on June 7, 2016 in Houston, TX. The “Purple Reign” lives forever in H-Town, and on that day the reflection pool at City Hall was transformed to purple in honor of the “Purple One”. I’m honored and flattered to know that my efforts and influence in making that happen will also be felt long after I’m gone.

I wish you love…I wish you heaven O(+> “
